Eco-Friendly Products

In line with its environmental policy, KING JIM considers the environment throughout its product planning, development, and design. Products that comply with requirements for environment labels (certified by third-party organizations such as Eco Mark or the "Environmental Mark" based on our company-internal standards), the Act on Promoting Green Procurement, or other regulations are designated as "eco-friendly products."
In the fiscal year ended June 20, 2023 eco-friendly products made up 77% of the net sales.

We will continue to maintain this high sales ratio of eco-friendly products.

Product Development Based on 3R and Environmentally Friendly Technologies (Materials)

"Reduce" waste. "Reuse" products. "Recycle" once more as source material. Use environmentally friendly technologies (materials).

KING JIM works on creating products that further reduce the burden on the environment by introducing environmentally friendly technologies and materials and following the 3R principles [Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle].

Reduce

Reducing waste.
KING JIM works to decrease waste by planning, developing, and designing products that can be used for a long time and can be refillable with reducing, minimizing, and lessening waste as our priority.

Files that can be used for a long time

Files feature a durable cover and a replaceable spine label, so it's a long life.

The ecological design of “TEPRA”

We are making refinements to enhance the durability of “TEPRA” tape and reduce unnecessary blank space when printing labels.

“TEPRA” PRO Tape Cartridge Eco Pack

This eco-friendly, simple packaging product lessens waste by reducing individual packaging.

Collection of used “TEPRA” PRO Tape Cartridges

We collect used “TEPRA” PRO tape cartridges to reduce waste.

Reuse

"Reuse" products.
Our product development and design are focused on creating products that are not single-use but can be used repeatedly.
We make products that allow customers to easily replace individual components and continue to use the product repeatedly.

Reuse of covers and bindings

The cover and the binding of an old file can be separated and then combined with separately sold "Storage binding" and "Replacement cover."

Collection of used "TEPRA" PRO Tape Cartridges

"TEPRA" PRO tape cartridges are designed to be reusable. Our company collects and disassembles old cartridges and inspects and reuses the parts.

Recycle

"Recycle" once more as source material.
KING JIM promotes recycling by developing products that use recycled materials or can easily separate them for appropriate disposal after use.

Recycling rate of product components

We select paper and plastic materials (components) in consideration of the recycling rate.

Collection of used "TEPRA" PRO Tape Cartridges

We collect used "TEPRA" PRO tape cartridges from the market, recycle them with recycling technology, and then use them efficiently as new source materials.

Simplification of containers and packaging

We use cardboard not only for packaging boxes of electronic products but also for cushioning materials so that our entire packaging unit can be made from a single material and easily recycled.

Engraving on plastic components

In order to make it easier to separate and recycle the individual materials when disposing of used products, plastic parts used in electronic products and some files are engraved with information on the material properties.

Environmentally Friendly Technologies (Materials)

Use environmentally friendly technologies (materials).
We develop products from materials that have a low environmental impact and comply with Japanese and international environmental laws and regulations.

Compatibility with the RoHS directive(*)

Some electronic products, such as the "TEPRA" main unit and "TEPRA" tape cartridges, are developed using parts that comply with the RoHS directive.
* The RoHS Directive regulates the use of specified hazardous substances (10 substances) contained in electrical and electronic equipment used in the EU (European Union).

Research on metal surface treatments

For "KING FILE" metal bindings, we are working towards adopting a metal surface treatment method with a low environmental impact while maintaining the same quality as conventional products.

Chromium-free (no chromium or chromium compounds used in metal surface treatment)

Intending to reduce the use of substances that impact the environment, we have succeeded in using alternative technologies with low environmental impact to achieve a chromium-free metal surface processing of the bindings in our "King File Ecology Dotch" products.

"Environmental Mark"

KING JIM has defined its standards for environmental consideration categories at each stage of production, use, and disposal of its products. Our comprehensive catalog uses an "Environmental Mark" to designate products and make it easy to understand a product's environmental information.

PRODUCTION

We strive to save resources by using recycled paper and recycled plastic as the main components of our products. Environmental considerations are an integral part of our product planning and design.

We use recycled paper (50% or higher used paper pulp blending ratio).

We use recycled plastic (40% or more recycled plastic).

We use materials with a lower environmental impact.

USE

We design our products so that parts of old products can be "reused" and develop them so that individual parts can be replaced and have a "long life." We respond to our customers' "environmental considerations" while they use our products.

Cover and binding can be reused.

Our products can be used over a long time by replacing the durable cover and binder spine label.

DISPOSAL

For disposal, it is important that the materials can be separated and are free of harmful substances. For used “TEPRA” PRO tape cartridges, KING JIM also has its collection system to reduce waste.

Our files have a structure that enables easy removal of the cover and binding, so that the different materials can be disposed of separately.

We collect used items to reuse materials and reduce waste.

Our products comply with the RoHS directive(*), which prohibits using harmful substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Compliance with the "Act on Promoting Green Procurement"

KING JIM is committed to developing products that comply with the "Act on Promoting Green Procurement."

The official name of the Act on Promoting Green Procurement is "The Act on Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities." National institutions, local governments, businesses, citizens, and manufacturers are obligated to promote the procurement and purchase of goods with low environmental impact.
The Act on Promoting Green Procurement specifies “Specific Procurement Items.” Among our products, mainly, "KING FILE"s, etc., in the category "Specific Procurement Items: Files, binders, filing supplies" and "TEPRA" PRO tape cartridges, etc., in the category "Specific Procurement Items: Cassettes for tape printing machines" are registered as products that conform to the criteria of the Act on Promoting Green Procurement. Even if not included in one of these categories, we strive to provide environmentally friendly products such as Eco Mark products.

Products that conform to the Act on Promoting Green Procurement are indicated with this mark in our comprehensive catalog and other promotional materials.
